  2. Diary Entry: Auto-created entry of type matching reminder (e.g., Watering reminder β†’ πŸ’§ Watering entry)
  3. Next Occurrence: Calculated based on frequency
    • Example: "Water every 7 days" completed today β†’ next due in 7 days
  4. Statistics Update:
    • Total completions +1
    • On-time rate recalculated
    • Streak updated (if consecutive completions)

  • Example: Due Monday, completed Monday or Tuesday = On-time βœ“

Late Completion: After 24 hours

  • Example: Due Monday, completed Wednesday = Late (2 days delay)

Streak Maintained: If completed within grace period (3 days)

  • Example: 14-day streak continues if completed max 3 days late

Streak Broken: If skipped or very late (>3 days)

  • Example: Due Monday, completed Saturday = Streak resets to 1

Why It Matters: On-time rate and streaks help you identify consistency patterns

Snoozing Reminders

Postpone to Later - Delay without completing

When to Snooze

Perfect For:

  • Soil still moist (check again tomorrow)
  • No time right now (will do later today)
  • Waiting for supplies (remind when fertilizer arrives)
  • Weather conditions (rain forecasted, postpone outdoor task)

Snooze Options

Pre-Set Durations:

  • 1 Hour - Later today (e.g., "Remind me after lunch")
  • 3 Hours - This afternoon/evening
  • Tomorrow - Next day, same time
  • 1 Day - Exactly 24 hours
  • 3 Days - Later this week
  • Custom - Pick specific date/time

How to Snooze

Steps:

  1. Open reminder (Dashboard or Reminders list)
  2. Click "Snooze" button
  3. Select duration
  4. Confirm

What Happens:

  • Reminder removed from "Today" list
  • Notification dismissed
  • New notification scheduled for snooze time
  • Reminder reappears at snoozed time
  • Original due date unchanged (affects on-time tracking)

Tip: Frequent snoozing indicates wrong frequency β†’ Consider editing reminder

  • Use Case: One-off situation (e.g., vacation delay)

Example:

  • Original: "Water every 7 days"
  • Edit to: "Water every 10 days"
  • From Next: Today's completion is 7 days, next one is 10 days

  • Missing reminders: Enable push notifications

Seasonal Activation:

  • Add dormancy pause: Fertilize Apr-Sep only
  • Extend season: Water outdoor May-Oct instead of Jun-Aug

Pausing Reminders

Temporary Disable - Stop notifications without deleting

When to Pause

Perfect For:

  1. Vacation/Travel: Gone for 2 weeks, can't water plants
  2. Dormancy: Plant dormant in winter, no fertilizing needed
  3. Testing Schedule: Experimenting with different frequency
  4. Health Recovery: Plant overwatered, pause watering temporarily
  5. Seasonal Break: Outdoor plants brought indoors for winter

How to Pause

Steps:

  1. Open reminder β†’ "More Options" β†’ "Pause"
  2. Optional: Add pause reason + end date
  3. Confirm

What Happens:

  • ⏸️ Reminder marked as "Paused"
  • No notifications sent
  • Doesn't appear in "Active Reminders"
  • Doesn't affect statistics (excluded from calculations)
  • History preserved (all past completions remain)

Pausing Multiple Reminders

Use Case: Vacation mode for all plants

Steps:

  1. Reminders β†’ "Pause All" (top-right menu)
  2. Select reminders to pause:
    • All reminders
    • By plant (e.g., all "Living Room" plants)
    • By type (e.g., all "Watering" reminders)
  3. Set resume date (e.g., "Resume Sept 15th")
  4. Confirm

What Happens:

  • All selected reminders paused
  • Auto-resume on specified date
  • Notification: "X reminders will resume on [date]"

Resuming Reminders

Manual Resume:

  1. Reminders β†’ "Paused" tab
  2. Find reminder β†’ "Resume"
  3. Choose next due date:
    • Now (immediately due)
    • Original schedule (as if never paused)
    • Custom date (specific restart date)

Auto-Resume: If end date set during pause, reminder resumes automatically

Deleting Reminders

Permanent Removal - Last resort option

Before You Delete

Consider Alternatives:

  1. Pause: If temporary (vacation, dormancy)
  2. Edit Frequency: If schedule is wrong
  3. Lower Priority: If too many notifications
  4. Disable Notifications: If annoying but want to track

When Deletion Makes Sense:

  • Plant died or rehomed
  • Reminder was duplicate
  • Task no longer relevant (e.g., propagation completed)

How to Delete

Steps:

  1. Open reminder β†’ "More Options" β†’ "Delete"
  2. Warning: "Deleting is permanent. Consider pausing instead."
  3. Confirm: Type reminder name to confirm
  4. Delete

What's Lost:

  • ❌ Reminder configuration
  • ❌ Future occurrences
  • ❌ Notification schedule

What's Preserved:

  • βœ“ Completion history (in diary)
  • βœ“ Linked diary entries
  • βœ“ Statistics (past completions still count)

Bulk Delete

Use Case: Removing plant and all its reminders

Option 1: Delete via Plant

  1. Plant Management β†’ Select plant β†’ "Delete Plant"
  2. Checkbox: β˜‘ "Also delete all reminders for this plant"
  3. Confirm

Option 2: Bulk Delete Reminders

  1. Reminders β†’ "Manage" β†’ Multi-select mode
  2. Check reminders to delete
  3. "Delete Selected" β†’ Confirm

Best Practices

Review Reminders Monthly

What to Check:

  • Completion rate per reminder (aim for >80%)
  • Frequent snoozing (indicates wrong frequency)
  • Paused reminders (resume or delete?)
  • Duplicate reminders (consolidate)

Action: Adjust frequencies, delete unused, optimize schedule

Use Completion Notes Strategically

When to Add Notes:

  • Observed something unusual (pests, wilting, new growth)
  • Deviated from routine (applied extra water, used different fertilizer)
  • Completed late (explain why: forgot, traveling, etc.)

Benefit: Build knowledge base, spot patterns, improve care over time

Pause During Dormancy

Seasonal Plants:

  • Fall: Pause fertilizing for most houseplants
  • Winter: Reduce watering frequency (edit, don't pause)
  • Spring: Resume fertilizing, increase watering

Benefit: Reminders match plant's natural cycle

Don't Over-Snooze

Rule of Thumb: If you snooze a reminder 3+ times, the frequency is wrong.

Action: Edit frequency instead of repeated snoozing

  • Example: Watering every 7 days β†’ snoozed 3 times β†’ edit to every 10 days

πŸ’‘ Tips & Tricks

Batch Complete Multiple Reminders

Use Case: Morning routine - water 5 plants

Workflow:

  1. Reminders β†’ Today view
  2. Check all watering reminders βœ“βœ“βœ“βœ“βœ“
  3. One confirmation β†’ All completed

Benefit: 30 seconds instead of 5 minutes

Use Custom Snooze for Supply Delays

Scenario: Fertilizer arrives Friday, reminder due today (Monday)

Action: Snooze β†’ Custom β†’ Friday 9am

Benefit: Reminder reappears exactly when you can complete it

Create Follow-Up Reminders from Completion

Use Case: Pest treatment requires follow-up

Workflow:

  1. Complete "Pest Check" reminder
  2. Note: "Found spider mites, applied neem oil"
  3. "Create Follow-Up" button appears
  4. Auto-creates: "Check spider mite treatment" (7 days later)

Benefit: Ensures you follow through on treatments

❓ Common Questions

Q: If I complete a reminder late, does it mess up the schedule?

A: No. Next due date is calculated from completion date, not original due date.

  • Example: Due Monday, completed Wednesday β†’ next due is 7 days from Wednesday.

Q: Can I undo a completion?

A: Yes! Reminders β†’ Completed tab β†’ Find reminder β†’ "Undo". Reverts to active, deletes auto-created diary entry.

Q: What happens if I edit a paused reminder?

A: Changes are saved but reminder stays paused. Resume manually to activate with new settings.

Q: Can I pause reminders automatically based on weather?

A: Yes! Enable "Weather-Based Adjustments" in reminder settings. Reminders auto-skip if conditions met (e.g., rain for watering).

Q: Does deleting a plant delete its reminders?

A: You're prompted during plant deletion. Check β˜‘ "Delete reminders too" or uncheck to keep reminders (they'll be orphaned and require manual cleanup).
