Reminder Cards

Each Card Shows:

• Icon - Type indicator (💧, 🧪, ✂️, etc.)
• Title - "Water Monstera", "Fertilize monthly"
• Type Badge - Watering, Fertilizing, Inspection, etc.
• Frequency - "Every 7 days", "Monthly", "Bi-weekly"
• Next Due - "In 5 days" or "Overdue by 2 days"
• Priority - Low, Medium, High, Critical (color-coded)
• Status - Active, Paused, Completed
• Notification - 🔔 On or 🔕 Off

Sorting Active Reminders

Sort Options (Dropdown):

• By Due Date (default) - Soonest first
• By Priority - Critical → High → Medium → Low
• By Type - Group watering, fertilizing, etc.
• Alphabetical - By reminder title

Use Case: Sort by Due Date to see what's urgent.

Reminder Types

Pre-configured categories with smart defaults.

Built-In Types

1. Watering 💧

• Default frequency: Based on plant's watering schedule
• Auto-adjusts: When you mark as watered
• Priority: Usually High (plants need water!)

2. Fertilizing 🧪

• Default frequency: Monthly (spring/summer only)
• Seasonal: Can pause in winter
• Priority: Medium

3. Inspection 🔍

• Default frequency: Weekly
• Purpose: Regular health checks
• Priority: Low-Medium

4. Pruning ✂️

• Default frequency: Monthly or Quarterly
• Purpose: Trim dead leaves, shape plant
• Priority: Low

5. Repotting 🪴

• Default frequency: Annually
• Purpose: Refresh soil, larger pot
• Priority: Medium

6. Pest Check 🐛

• Default frequency: Bi-weekly
• Purpose: Early pest detection
• Priority: Medium

7. Measure Growth 📏

• Default frequency: Monthly
• Purpose: Record height, width, leaves
• Priority: Low

8. Custom Task ⚙️

• User-defined frequency
• Purpose: Anything not covered above
• Priority: User-defined

Creating Reminders

Step-by-step reminder setup.

Quick Create

1-Minute Setup:

1. Click "+ Add Reminder" button
2. Select Type: Choose from 8 types
3. Frequency:
   • Daily
   • Every X days (custom number)
   • Weekly
   • Bi-weekly (every 14 days)
   • Monthly
   • Quarterly
   • Annually
4. Start Date: When first due (defaults to today)
5. Save

Result: Reminder active, notifications enabled by default.

Advanced Create

Full Configuration:

1. Click "+ Add Reminder" → "Advanced"
2. Basic Info:
   • Type: Watering
   • Custom Title: "Deep water until drainage"
   • Description: "Water thoroughly, let drain completely"
3. Schedule:
   • Frequency: Every 7 days
   • Start Date: Oct 24, 2025
   • End Date (optional): Never / Specific date
   • Skip Weekends: ☑️ (reschedule to Monday)
4. Notifications:
   • Method: Push, Email, In-App, SMS
   • Advance Notice: 1 hour before, Day of, 1 day before
   • Repeat: 1 time, Until completed
5. Priority:
   • Critical (🔴) - Must do today
   • High (🟠) - Do soon
   • Medium (🟡) - Normal task
   • Low (🟢) - When you have time
6. Advanced Options:
   • Seasonal: Active only Mar-Sep (growing season)
   • Weather-Based: Skip if rainy (for outdoor plants)
   • Dose Amount: "15ml fertilizer" (for fertilizing reminders)
7. Save

Result: Fully customized reminder with all options configured.

Quick Actions on Reminders

Manage reminders from cards.

Complete Now

Mark Task as Done:

• Click "Complete" button on reminder card
• Confirmation: "Mark as completed?"
• Yes → Reminder resets to next due date
• Auto-creates diary entry (logged in Diary tab)

Example:

• Reminder: "Water Monstera" (Due today)
• Complete → Next due: Oct 31 (7 days from now)
• Diary entry: "Watered" (Oct 24, 3:45 PM)

Snooze

Postpone Reminder:

• Click "Snooze" button
• Choose duration:
  • 1 hour
  • 3 hours
  • Tomorrow
  • 1 day
  • 3 days
  • Custom (enter days)
• Reminder rescheduled

Use Case: Plant doesn't need water yet, check again in 2 days.

Edit

Modify Reminder:

• Click "Edit" (pencil icon)
• Change any setting (frequency, priority, notifications)
• Save

Common Edits:

• Adjust frequency (Every 7 days → Every 5 days)
• Change priority (Low → High if plant struggling)
• Toggle notifications on/off

Pause/Resume

Temporarily Disable:

• Click "Pause" button
• Reminder stays in list but doesn't notify
• Use for:
  • Winter dormancy (pause fertilizing)
  • Vacation (pause all reminders)
  • Experiments (pause regular schedule)

Resume: Click "Resume" to reactivate.

Delete

Remove Reminder:

• Click "Delete" (trash icon)
• Confirm deletion
• Permanent (cannot undo)

When to Delete:

• Wrong reminder created
• Plant no longer needs this task
• Consolidated into different reminder

Completed Reminders Section

History of completed tasks.

Completion Log

Shows:

• Date Completed - When you marked it done
• Due Date - When it was supposed to be done
• Status - On-time ✅, Late ⏰ (how late)
• Notes - Any notes added at completion
• Diary Entry - Link to auto-generated diary entry

Completion Statistics

Insights:

• On-Time Rate: 87% (27/31 on time)
• Average Delay: 1.2 days (when late)
• Longest Streak: 14 consecutive on-time completions
• Most Consistent Reminder: Watering (95% on-time)

Use Case: Track care consistency, identify which reminders you struggle with.

Reminder Settings

Plant-specific reminder preferences.

Notification Preferences

Global Settings (applies to all reminders for this plant):

• Master Toggle: All notifications on/off
• Quiet Hours: No notifications 10 PM - 8 AM
• Group Notifications: Combine multiple reminders into one notification

Per-Reminder Settings (override global):

• Enable/disable individually
• Choose notification method (push, email, SMS)
• Set advance notice timing

Smart Scheduling

Auto-Adjustments:

• Weather-Based: Skip outdoor watering if rainy
• Seasonal: Pause fertilizing reminders in winter
• Growth-Based: Adjust frequency based on growth rate
• Health-Based: Increase inspection frequency if plant unhealthy

Common Plant Templates:

• Low Maintenance - Watering (bi-weekly), Fertilizing (quarterly), Monthly inspection
• Propagation Care - Daily misting, Weekly water change, Bi-weekly root check

Apply Template:

1. Click "Use Template" button
2. Select template (e.g., "Medium Maintenance")
3. Creates 3-5 reminders automatically
4. Customize if needed

Creating Custom Templates

Save Your Reminder Set:

1. Configure perfect reminders for one plant
2. Click "Save as Template"
3. Name: "My Tropical Plant Care"
4. Template saved for reuse

Apply to Other Plants:

• Select different plant
• Apply saved template
• All reminders copied over

Batch Complete

Multiple Reminders at Once:

• Water 5 plants at same time?
• Complete all 5 watering reminders together
• Saves tapping each individually

How: Dashboard → Filter "Due Today" → Bulk Actions → Complete Selected

Priority System

Use Priorities Strategically:

• 🔴 Critical: Overdue watering (plant wilting)
• 🟠 High: Regular watering, pest treatment
• 🟡 Medium: Fertilizing, inspection
• 🟢 Low: Pruning, measuring

Benefit: Focus on what matters most when short on time.

Vacation Mode

Going Away?:

1. Pause all reminders
2. Water thoroughly before leaving
3. Resume upon return
4. No annoying notifications while away!

Seasonal Templates

Create Season-Specific Sets:

• Spring Template: Frequent watering, bi-weekly fertilizing
• Summer Template: Same + daily misting
• Fall Template: Reduce watering, monthly fertilizing
• Winter Template: Minimal watering, no fertilizing

Switch templates as seasons change (saves manual editing).

Always check Diary after completing reminder:

• Reminder completion auto-creates diary entry
• Edit entry to add photos, detailed notes
• Full record of care action

Q: Can I have multiple reminders of the same type?

A: Yes! Example:

• "Quick Water" - Every 7 days (regular watering)
• "Deep Soak" - Monthly (thorough saturation)

Both are "Watering" type but different frequencies.

Q: What happens if I miss a reminder?

A:

• Reminder shows "Overdue by X days" in red
• Notifications continue (repeat until completed)
• Completion log marks as "Late" when you finally complete it
• No penalty - just tracks consistency

Q: Can reminders adjust based on seasons?

A: Yes! Advanced options:

• Seasonal Toggle: Active only certain months
• Smart Scheduling: Auto-adjusts frequency based on temperature/humidity

Q: Do I need to create reminders manually?

1. Open source plant → Reminders tab
